I found one of our old posters on Twitter because he uses his name from here and tweets about the Cardinals. The way I confirmed it was I searched his account for the word “spoiler” and sure enough there was a complaint about the “spoiler police”

How does a team have an unexpected doubleheader?

If it were due to a rainout, they'd have the starter from the rainout and then the next day's starter for both games of the doubleheader. Therefore, there would seem to be some other reason for this doubleheader. Does anyone know?

I guess I never thought I'd hear, "Surprise! Doubleheader today!" in baseball.

As best as I can tell, it is a makeup game from earlier in the season that wasn't scheduled until yesterday.
