They’re discussing it on MLBN now and here’s the rule.
The runner was running with the pitch - almost at 3rd when the ball was deflected over the fence. I would think there should be some level of umpire discretion. Perhaps the rule can be modified to take into consideration where the runner is when the ball leaves the field.
