Arguably the second best player in the MLB last year but the 5th best 3rd baseman in baseball. Adds up.

He did spend years being subjectively ranked ahead of players with better WAR than him, so at least it's consistent.

To your point, I believe the Shredder goes in 3 year intervals, and Arenado was incredibly consistent putting up pretty much a 6+ WAR every year, which is why he was ranked ahead of others who may have had 1 great year but wasn't as consistent. His last 3 seasons, 2020 was a bad year, 2021 was good but still down from his peak, and 2022 was probably his best season to date. So going by the last 3, him being 5, does make more sense.
