....and so it begins.
Looks like the Blue Jays could use a potentially high impact outfielder. I wonder what they would give up in that exchange

Seems like Nootbaar scratches their itch a little better. Carlson had a .316 OBP this season, moderate K rate, and should potentially give up batting LH.
It would suck to lose Nootbaar. However if you would have told me last year at this point that we could potentially trade him for a decent starting catcher, I would have jumped all over it.

Noots for Kirk? Is that the rumor?
There's also a rumor that we might trade for Winker from Seattle. Not sure about that. He really ate it last year.

Depending on the price, I'd happily buy low on Winker if Noot is traded away. Though I must say, he kinda fills all the requirements Toronto is looking for (high OBP, low K, lefty). Who wants a 3-way?

MLB.com's Jon Morosi reports that the Blue Jays are showing interest in free agent Brandon Nimmo.
Toronto just traded Teoscar Hernández to Seattle for two pitchers, so there is an open spot in the outfield and a rather large hole in the lineup. Nimmo seems like a logical fit for just about any team with his terrific on-base skills. He boasts a career .385 OBP and put up an .800 OPS with 16 home runs, 64 RBI, and 102 runs scored across 151 games this past season with the Mets. The 29-year-old officially hit the open market on Tuesday when he rejected a one-year, $19.65 million qualifying offer from New York.
