You should hear a SF broadcast when the team is bad. Or Philly. Or Boston or NY.
I don't recall scathing criticism from Dan during the 2016-2018 run.
And [expletive] on owners is not really what I mean by homerism.
I'm familiar with Michael Kay and he's a Yankees employee. If I was a Yankees fan I'd appreciate how he calls games. Alas, I don't.
Broadcasters aren't going to be critical or "non-homer". They're employed by teams or employers who have a financial interest with not pissing off teams.
No broadcaster is objective when calling a game for a team they're employed by.
Wasn't talking about that NY. Meant SNY. Not sure how much the Mets put into it. But Keith is deeply critical of the team and even Cohen at times.
Krukow and Kuiper routinely criticized Bobby Evans' management of the team post-Sabean. They were downright mad at trade deadline moves after the championship high wore off. The best pros in the business. I do not know how much stake the Giants have in NBC/Comcast Bay Area channel. As they also show A's games. They heavily expressed their disfavor of Baer too, hell you can catch some of their criticism of the team in Mays/Bonds ceremonies.
Chip Caray makes a Dan McLaughlin broadcast sound edgy in comparison. I miss Dan. With the team in the crapper right now this is when the broadcasters could tell interesting stories about past players and whatnot to distract from our starters throwing batting practice, but Chip hasn't been a part of all that for the past 25 years like Dan, so it's just depressing.
