Tim Tebow is officially three steps from the Majors. The Mets announced Sunday that they are promoting the former NFL quarterback from Class A Columbia to Class A Advanced St. Lucie, their third-highest ranked Minor League affiliate.
Tebow was scheduled to play in his final game Sunday for Columbia, before reporting to St. Lucie on Tuesday.
ough Tebow was batting just .222 with a .651 OPS in 63 games for Columbia, Alderson said the team has been impressed with his increased exit velocity and isolated power, among other advanced metrics. More than a third of Tebow's hits have gone for extra bases, including three home runs.

Tebow has passed Michael Jordan on the minor league homerun list
The newly promoted minor-leaguer shined in his debut at high Single-A, homering in his first day of play with the St. Lucie Mets.
According to TCPalm.com, Tebow's two-run home run to left-center field came on a 92 mph fastball in the second inning of Game 2 of a Florida State League doubleheader loss to the Palm Beach Cardinals.
In his first ten games playing in Class A Advanced Florida State League, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner hit two home runs, drove in eight runs, and is batting .345 after 10 hits in 29 at-bats. In addition, Tebow drew six walks earning an impressive .472 on-base percentage.
Turning into quite the No. 3 hitter...Get 'er done Girsch-Mo!
When St. Lucie goes to Kissimmee for a series this weekend against the Florida Fire Frogs, they’re simply being called “Tebow tickets.” The box office there has been open extended hours for the past several days in anticipation of Tebow’s looming visit, which is probably a new thing for that Atlanta affiliate. The Fire Frogs’ average attendance this season: 796.
He's actually doing well at Class A...I find the whole thing fascinating.
