It was an empty netter, and by the reaction of the announcers, the most perfect empty net goal in the history of the NHL.

Their goalie was very good, and so was Binnington. Colorado is way faster, but I thought we'd be better against that than they were last night. Seemed gassed at the end, maybe elevation.

Possibly gassed from spending too much time in their own end over the first two periods.

As their cup run showed (particularly in the Finals against BOS), the Blues can win even when they don't control the game. But that was a different team too - we had Petro and Bo back there who could reliably play solid defense, limiting good scoring opportunities. I don't feel as confident with Faulk and Krug, plus Parayko at less than 100%. Not having Sundqvist to center that 4th line hurts too.

Sucks to lose a game that binner kept so close. And there were some golden chances we didn’t score on. I agree with popeye, the move from petro/jaybo clogging up lanes to Faulk/krug makes a difference, as does not having sunny (who would have probably played one 2-3 lines last night) and Perron.

In the 19 finals the blues would look completely overmatched one game (half of game one, third period of game 6 and most/all of game 3) and on the next fix what needed to be fixed and get enough done to win.

If binner is playing like last night, this series isn’t over until the final horn.

Statement from St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Doug Armstrong:

We have discovered discrepancies in Covid test results relating to multiple players. We have been in touch with and are working with the League to address these discrepancies with additional testing and expect to have further information later this afternoon.

The League will provide a further update when we have more information. Head Coach Craig Berube and our players will not be available to the media until after tonight's game.

and a follow up, binnington, tarasenko, scandella and schwartz not on the ice (and of course no perron/walman/walker)...this could get real ugly if more positive tests!
The NHL retested some teams for COVID-19 on Wednesday after what it believed were false positive results from one U.S.-based lab on Tuesday.

The St. Louis Blues were one of at least two playoff teams impacted, both of which were scheduled to play Wednesday night.

Thank goodness...
The NHL has released a statement regarding recent COVID-19 testing results for the St. Louis Blues and Vegas Golden Knights.
"This morning, we became aware of certain test results involving multiple Players on two Clubs (the St. Louis Blues and the Vegas Golden Knights) that had indicated positive results for the COVID-19 virus. Because those reported results emanated from the same laboratory, and due to other peculiarities and similarities as among the test results themselves, an investigation was initiated into the possibility that the initial test results reported may have been in error. All affected Players were immediately isolated and further testing was done involving collected samples. Those tests have returned uniformly negative results, therefore confirming that the initial reported test results were in error. As a result, all affected Players will be eligible to play in their team’s next game." The Blues visit the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night. The team announced earlier in the day that were dealing with discrepancies in COVID testing results.

Unfortunately no; it looks like just the players they tested last night that showed positive in error (tarasenko, scandals, schwartz, and binnington from our team)

Damnit. Well, I guess it is still better than all those guys being out too. Might as well have forfeited the series at that point.
