Hoping for something easy to treat for you, IMA. Keep us posted!
So there is good news and bad news on this front. The good news is what I have is treatable, but not curable. It's called Takayasu's Arteritis. Basically it's an autoimmune disease that attacks my big arteries. I'll be on medicine for it for the rest of my life and my understanding is I will have periods of remission and periods of attacks. These can last from days to years. Basically the specialist I saw said it's important to take it easy when I'm in a period of attack because my arteries will be narrowed and weak from the inflammation which increases my risk of stroke, heart attack, or aneurism. I've noticed that as soon as I start getting hot things go downhill fast. I sweat massively and will start getting numbness and tingling in my limbs. If I sit down and cool off a while it all goes away.

Anyway, I appreciate the well wishes everyone, like I said the good news is we can manage it. So that's the plan.

IMADreamer, I am sorry that you are going through TAK. Keep in touch with your rheumatologist. Definitely should take it easy during periods of attack due to the increased risk of CVE's. I'm assuming you're under a prednisone treatment. The symptoms of massive sweating is common with autoimmune diseases.

That doesn't sound very cool, IMADreamer. I hope you are able to manage that without too much disruption to your life.

Speaking of cancer, I didn't want Jeff Burton's passing to go unnoted. He was on the radio in STL for decades, and passed away 1 week ago from cancer. For those who didn't hear about it or didn't know him, there's this:

Best of luck on this journey my friend. There will be challenges ahead no doubt, but at least take some solace in that it could have been worse. Was there any discussion of whether or not this could be a long Covid induced thing? I've been seeing some articles looking at long Covid symptoms resulting not from the virus remaining burrowed deep in tissues, but the immune system going haywire resulting in auto-immune issues.

There is no way to know for sure but the vascular surgeon says that he suspects covid could have been the trigger for it.

F cancer. My uncle died today. He found out he had cancer Friday. Yeah it was that quick. He'd been feeling not well for a week or so, finally went to the doctor on Friday, they put him in the hospital and they called us all in yesterday to tell us he wasn't going to make it. There are now only two siblings left in my Dad's family which once had 13. My Dad, and my Uncle that we farm with. They are both taking it really hard and understandably so. My uncle that just died was the oldest and when my Grandfather died he kind of stepped in as the elder statesman of the family and even though he didn't farm with us he was around at least a few times a week just to hang out and shoot the breeze.

I'm heartbroken that my uncle died, but what was even harder was seeing my Dad and Uncle both cry when we got the call.
