In-laws century farm burnt to the ground.
The house built by my wife's parents on his family's century farm near Ava, MO burnt to the ground yesterday. The only thing left was the fireplace as you see. They had good insurance so maybe they can build it back around that hearth. Sad to see though.

Lost a tractor and a newly purchased bailer too. Brother-in-law says he'll build it back 'all electric and no Russian propane." Gotta send a thank you note to Mr Putin for uniting the country like it hasn't since 9-11.

My wife and her siblings are on it. Just depends on riders, etc. Have no idea what is in the policy. It is a 'farm and ranch' policy. I have no idea if that means there is better coverage for things like that baler or there are actually exclusions for those things. You never know in hyper-capitalist America.
The thing is their Mom, who's been gone since before I knew my wife, was an amateur artist and there were many paintings - including one of each kid when they were 5-6 - that are, of course, gone.

Did they find any letters from John Cheever in the ashes?

Man sorry to hear that. We used to have a farm with an 1880s farm house, and I’d hate for something like this to happen.
