With the team we have now we could compete. Guys gotta' perform though, and they can't do that on the bench.

Re: OFFICIAL TLR HEAD SCRATCHER THREAD
We're pinch running Gerald [expletive] Laird for Molina in a 1 run game? Really? Even with the speedy young outfielder who can't really hit but can run reasonably well on the roster? Really? Don't wanna burn a position player just to pinch run? Ok. There are two athletic guys on the roster named Lohse and Jackson who won't in any meaningful way contribute to the rest of the game, but we're still gonna use Laird? Ok...
Trading a fat catcher who can't run for a fat catcher who can't run. Gotta get Molina's bat out of the game, though, I suppose. Already got rid of Freese and Berkman. In a 1 run game. Just awful.

Chambers was left off the World Series roster.longhornbaseball wrote:Even with the speedy young outfielder who can't really hit but can run reasonably well on the roster?

I thought Skip made it over Chambers for the WS roster? The negative win probability of swapping out Yadi at that point was probably so low that it's a moot point. Taking out Freese was killer though since DD had to bat with runners on.

Didn't realize Chambers wasn't on the roster. The point still stands, though. You gain nothing going from Molina to Laird because neither is going to score from first base on a double. It's possible Jackson or Lohse could have.

Laird is significantly faster than Molina. I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms over this.
What I didn't like was the defensive replacement for Freese, and removing Puma from the game but NOT PR for him.

I wouldn't have pinch run for Molina because I don't want to burn a good player for a bad player for a very marginal speed upgrade.

Anyone is faster than Molina. Jackson and Lohse are significantly faster than Laird. Can you honestly say you wouldn't have been upset if Furcal had ripped one down the line but Laird would have had to stop at third instead of scoring? These little things matter.jim wrote:Laird is significantly faster than Molina. I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms over this.
