Other than Game 3, Albert was 1/19 with 3 K's, 6 walks and 0 RBI's. I will actually feel better about Albert on the Angels watching those games.

I don't wish any ill on Albert and am grateful for what he gave this franchise. But he's been getting gimpier earlier in the year for a few years now. You can't help but notice his decline the last few years. Here in St. Louis, a diminshed Albert would still be loved. I'm not so sure about out there. Though since they can hide his infirmities somewhat at DH, its not an issue. Wonder how much the DH possibility played into AP's decision. Especially if he knows he'll be playing until he's 45 on this contract...

yeah, ultimately its not that big of a deal in my life but it does kinda suck right now.

but you do have to wonder how it'll play out in 4-5+ years out there

According to one site (http://inflationdata.com/default.asp), if he were to make $20 Million/year in St. Louis, he would need to earn better than $32 Million/per to maintain the same buying power!

Albert took a pay cut!

(yes, I know this is an incredible over simplifiation, but I'm looking for things to make me feel better).
IIRC, CA has a 10% personal income tax rate. And the state is still a fiscal disaster.
And Brown is trying to raise it even higher on Millionaires, so he'll hit that one too.

It really sucks, and the worst part is I don't really blame Pujols or the Cardinals. There's no one to be really pissed off at right now.

This post pretty much sums up everything nicely.

he can put 1% his salary ( or $2.5 mill) in politicians to buy the tax rate down a few %s -a good rate of return, plus he'd get another neato prize from Glenn Beck.

Edit - glad this got immediately backpaged.
