Before AP signed, Whitey said the team should include language that after retiremen he would be on payroll as an ambassador until he was 65 years old.

If Pujols signed a 20 year deal with LA that precludes him from being any part of the Cardinals organization even after retirement, that's just one last middle finger to STL.

Once again, no reason to acknowledge Pujols with retired numbers or statues...possibly ever. He is not a Cardinal anymore and seems to be doing as much as possible to distance himself from STL as he can.

He owes STL nothing and STL owes him nothing. It's a two way street.

They still love Brett Hull in this town. The Golden Brett was far more outspoken, left on worse terms, and had to deal with an incredibly passionate group in Blues fans.

Yeah, there might be a few years of resentment, but this city will still love Albert. No doubt about that in my mind.

Brett Hull left because Mike Keenan was an [expletive]. Most people realized that and that's why Hull is still beloved. Albert left purely for more money. I don't think he'll be as beloved as other players from the last 11 years like Edmonds, Carpenter, and possibly Molina and Wainwright.
