Buying a house - rant/rave

Post by wart57 »

Wow, can they make this any more difficult? Finding a home in our budget, that my wife actually likes, was like death by a thousand cuts; and then we had to sign over 100 pages between the Mortgage company and the Title company. It felt like the Spanish Inquisition. And the waiting and worrying if anything is going to come back wrong, only to find out my wife’s credit report has 2 other SS#'s reporting to it that are not here, getting that fixed was a hassle.
All this fun and then I get to move, and set up all the utilities to be switched over. And then waiting to see if we will get any of out deposits back from our landlady, even though we have taken unbelievable care of her house.

The only rave is I will finally have a man cave - probably for about 30 minutes before Stinky, Smelly, and Poopy take it over as a princess playhouse.

All I know is that when we bought our first house a few years ago, my signature went from perfect cursive to basically just a slash mark with couple of dots really fast...

Signing your name 300 million times gets old.

My first and last name are a combined seventeen letters.

That's not going to be fun.

I think I'll get a stamp.

My signiature is a scribble anyway.

My wife works sporatically as a care giver in a senior care home run by her cousin (no the hot one,) she gets paid in either cash or by check. We have to document every non-direct deposit in to our checking account in the last 2 months. I guess I need to try to find a way to explain all the cash from my drug deals that go in to the account, but how do I do that? I am waiting for the call that they need to do a body cavity search next.

I can say with all honesty, that while I filled out a ton of paperwork to join the military, it was nothing compared to buying a house. All good though, because your money is kind of going partially yourself instead of some landlord.

It is going to be great to own my own home again. This renting [expletive] is getting old.

House prices in PHX are great right now.

A friend of mine is a doc who just moved to Phoenix - he bought a mansion (on the same street as Chili Davis!) for about 1/3 of what it was going for 5 years ago. I recommend you do that.
