Joe Mather had a game-winning RBI last night.

Ugh.

A month in. Angels 1B has dropped 80 points off an already abysmal OPS in the past week allowing the cost controlled Blue Jays CF to surpass him by almost 140 OPS points. Also, to be fair, I'm including Matt Holliday who has been horrific himself but still surpasses the Best Hitter In The Game by more than 80 OPS.

Inflation is out of control if that's all a quarter of a billion buys you these days.

Code: Select all

AVG HR RBI OBP SLG OPS
Shane Robinson .419 / 1 / 5 / .471 / .581 / 1.051
Jon Jay .400 / 2 / 8 / .441 / .545 / .986
Yadier Molina .316 / 4 / 15 / .369 / .592 / .961
David Freese .333 / 5 / 20 / .375 / .560 / .935
Carlos Beltran .256 / 5 / 11 / .376 / .462 / .838
Rafael Furcal .315 / 0 / 9 / .384 / .427 / .811
Matt Carpenter .267 / 1 / 14 / .333 / .467 / .800
Blue Jays CF .232 / 3 / 11 / .281 / .427 / .708
Matt Holliday .215 / 4 / 13 / .277 / .376 / .654
Angels 1B .217 / 0 / 4 / .265 / .304 / .570

I hadn't realized that Rick Ankiel shows up on Colby Rasmus's most comparable career list. There's an age difference, but it's still funny.

Ankiel isn't having a much better season than Rasmus, 256/275/436 in 40 PAs.

Speaking of Colby, my Cardinals wall calendar features Mr. Rasmus for May, so I'll be watching him all month...

Sup's still playing? I don't know if that's awesome or sad.

I think the word you are looking for is "scary"

Two days ago I dreamed that Jeff Suppan carried a perfect game into the ninth inning before losing it on an infield single.
