Not saying the deal won the Cards the series (because it didn't,) but I thought that was the point of playing games and making deals, trying to winning it all.

Baseball, like life, is not a stop and go thing, it has a flow. Each action can have a multitude of reactions. No 1 thing leads to a championship, and no 1 thing (except maybe Denkinger) causes you to lose one.

It always cracks me up when people say that, because they themselves are then making a straw man argument.
