"Evidently the 2012 San Diego Padres, who are 17-34, took a cue from St. Louis, six years later, and began a mission to recapture that magic. They're doing their best to reunite that awful bunch."

Jason Isringhausen is still pitching for a major league team at the age of 39.

I would have thought he'd be prepping for a total hip replacement by now.

Puntomania!

Nick Punto gave the Boston Red Sox the kind of production they've come to expect from Dustin Pedroia.

Punto homered and fell a triple shy of the cycle, Felix Doubront won for the fifth time in six starts and the Boston Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 Saturday.

"We're playing good baseball and for me to get in there and contribute a little bit felt great," said Punto, who has been filling in for Pedroia while the former MVP recovers from a torn muscle in his right thumb.

Brett Wallace (I know, not a former Cardinal) was called up today to replace C Lee who went on the DL, was hitting .265 with 10 homers and 37 RBIs in 50 games for Oklahoma City, went 2-3 and got HBP.

Brett may not be a former Cardinal in the sense that he never played in the majors for us, but he's still a product of our system, just as Covelli Crisp and Jack Wilson are.

Colby Rasmus went 5-for-5 and was a triple short of a cycle tonight. His numbers kicked into gear right after he got a couple of days off.

Kyle Russell was a high profile 4th round pick the Cardinals couldn't sign a few years ago. He's in his third season at AA, where he's striking out about a third of the time. He's got a 750 OPS, which isn't so hot for a guy who turns 26 in a couple of weeks.
