Big trade for the Timbers, MrS. I know Perlaza has scored a ton of big goals for you guys, but Danny Mwanga is super talented and 7 years younger. I like it.

I like it too. Perlaza has scored six Timbers goals but had at least as many groan-worthy shanks. He'd get himself wide open with his blazing speed and miss badly, or be called offsides (a ton). He created problems, though, and should have had more time up top with Boyd, but it took forever for our coach to move Nagbe to center mid (coaching is an issue). I don't think many tears will be shed for his loss--and some around here really hate him unfairly.

Mwanga is struggling and paid too much (edit: apparently we gained cap space in the deal, but it's all really confusing-DM makes more than JP). And getting a new forward doesn't address the problems with this team (defense, leadership, linking to the forwards). But he's local and young with both a track record and a ton of potential and more dimensions than Perlaza. I'm excited to see him go. I just hope we can get him the ball in somewhat threatening positions, something we've really struggled to do for Boyd.

("I like it too." was really probably enough, but I'm still hurting/embarrassed from last week.

The Sounders result last night probably didn't help.

No. I knew what was going to happen. That part of it was wrapped up in the misery already.
I would have been embarrassed if Boyd made the PK and we won 1-0. We lost to guys with day jobs.

So, I'm watching Poland/Greece, I missed the first half, which apparently was amazing, but I'm just wishing Jon Miller and Joe Morgan were calling the game. I don't hate Morgan like most seem too (and they're both sort of dip- [expletive]), but I'd just love to hear those two try to get their brains and tongues around all these names.

no pt for the kid in Chile. First time for him ever not playing. Trying to keep him from getting discouraged.

People that aren't into soccer should watch Spain.
