No talk about the USMNT and their ridiculous loss to Jamaica last week? What about the MNT and their ridiculous 1st half last night?

That was 45 minutes of some of the most aggressive soccer I've seen from the American side. I won't say it was the best soccer I've seen America play, but they were putting a lot of shots on frame (or just off frame). I look at that (granted against a weaker opponent than we'll see in the WC) and wonder what we would have done with an in-shape Dempsey, Donovan, and Bradley on the pitch.

Meanwhile, has Hercules Gomez won himself a full-time starting gig over Altidore? Altidore looked awful once he was subbed in. And what about Zusi? I was impressed. Not sure whose spot he took from the expected starting side (I'm assuming Bradley's, with Torres taking Donovan's), but he looked sharp. I was impressed with Cameron as well. First time I remember seeing him play.

I'm having trouble at the moment picking an ideal starting side. With Zusi, Shea, Danny Williams, Jermaine Jones, Edu, Donovan, Dempsey, Bradley, Fabian Johnson... who's your best starting midfield group?

Forgot about Holden. What's his status? Wasn't he hurt?

Yeah. He's expected back for Bolton at the end of October. They got relegated in his absence and I'm a little pessimistic that he'll be able to stay healthy around the butchers in the second division.

Yes, if you could see past the godless nightmare that was the ugliness of Seattle's kit (just missing the red noses), those were smoke bombs. I actually thought the Army was a little more subdued than usual today. Maybe the sound just wasn't carrying to my part of the stadium. Nice response from the boys today, they haven't done that much this year.
