So I'm in the car listening to a song by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeroes on the radio, and when it's over the dj said it was by Monsters and Men. That's so uneconomical it makes me puke. Why do we need two of those bands? And people get mad at me for not driving a hybrid...

I picked up the new Soundgarden album, King Animal. I've listened to it twice now and am pleasantly surprised. I wasn't very optimistic when I heard they were "coming back", but it is definitely a Soundgarden album (if that makes any sense). Nothing cutting edge or different, but they didn't change who they are.

Chris Cornell sounds a little older, but he can still wail. They still rock with their unusual time movements/changes/shifts. It's a bit overproduced, but not too much. They released some demos and you can buy the "extras" CD which I recommend. This album could have come out in in 1998 and fans wouldn't think they skipped a beat...and that's kind of cool.

I stopped off to buy it today after court. As I was making the purchase while wearing a suit, it dawned on me that the phrase 'the more things change, the more they stay the same' never had as much meaning as it did right then and there.

And I'm OK with that. Rock on GRB!
