Tough to see the Timbers (finally) lose. But man, we bullied Columbus with ten men until we didn't have any legs left at all. Nice performance. I really like how this team is playing with their feet and their hearts.

Too bad we're not LA, who can just call their own penalty kicks when necessary.

I'd pay $100 for fox soccer to drop the commentary and just play crowd sounds.
PDX AO killed it with the cascadia Uncle Sam tifo.

I am travelling so I missed it. To be honest I wasn't that excited about it, though probably would have gone. But from the buzz afterward, I'll be excited about the next one. I'm not going to be able to get 100% behind whiny little [expletive] like Donovan and Wondo, though, which has drawn me [expletive], even in Timbers forums--but for which I don't feel bad about.

Maybe the Timbers smuggled a Cuban through a secret tunnel or something. This team needs a Puig.

There are always a handful that defect and every now and then, one of them ends up being Osvaldo Alonso.

If you read Passan's piece on Puig's defection it really is a stark comparison to Alonso, who defected by wandering out of a Wal-Mart. The secret tunnel might not be necessary.

Don't be that guy. No one likes that guy and there's no benefit to being that guy. Name on the front of the jersey not the back and all that.

I'm not sure if you're being serious. It's so weird to me, the propriety of being a USMNT fan (and tbh, I'm a fairly casual USMNT fan). If Donovan slapped my baby I'd still have to say his [expletive] smelled like roses as soon as he put on his U.S. jersey.

Can't I be happy that the U.S. wins, happy that Donovan helps us win, all without forgetting that I don't appreciate the way he goes about his business, especially in league?

I was being serious. If "my club's teams rivals are annoying so I can't really 100% support the national team" is the first sentiment you think to express, something has gone wrong. If you prefer following a club over the national team there's nothing wrong with that, but the "these 2 guys(one of whom will never play in a game of true importance) are annoying so I can't get behind the team" is hipsterish nonsense. I suspect you probably know that anyway, since even the most hipsterish, club-focused place you can find(Timbers forums), has apparently given you a similar response.

Anyway, the wording there is stronger than I intended, but seriously, don't be that guy.

How about I be whatever guy I want to be? I can't think of anything more 'hipsterish nonsense' than assuming you are in a position to tell others they are doing it wrong.
