Can anyone suggest a good site for local show listings? All I ever find is exhaustion when trying to see what's happening. Seriously, it would be easier to drive around town reading marquees I think.

My local paper's calender is every single artist at every single venue. While some people might be interested that JamBug and the Szechuans are playing at Crazy Eddie's Monday at 1:30 PM, I wish there was something easier to navigate/sort or whatever. Even if it was just sort by 'bands anyone has ever heard of, ever.' I'll try the suggestions here. Thanks.
In Austin, there's only a couple companies that sell the majority of the concert tickets, so I subscribe to their e-mail lists (on my junk account) and read the "just announced" section to see if there's anybody I might be interested in seeing. Dunno if that would work in Portland, and having to read the e-mails may be annoying sometimes, so ymmv, but it works ok for me.
Another option that you don't have to keep up with as much, especially if you are interested in "bands anyone has ever heard of," is to just check the websites of the venues where those type of bands play.
