go birds wrote:Regarding Mumford and Son's newest album:
On their new album, Wilder Mind (out May 4th), Mumford & Sons have mostly removed their signature elements – banjo, acoustic strumming, stomping kick drum – and replaced them with U2-sized guitars, synths, spacey mellotrons and even some drum machines. "We felt that doing the same thing, or the same instrumentation again, just wasn’t for us," says frontman Marcus Mumford. "We’ve got a broader taste in music than just that." Adds Dwane, "None of us had really any interest in doing a sort of Babel 2. It was always going to be different."

As the Blurred Lines trial resumed, jurors got an inside peak at the financial success of the song credited to Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and T.I..

Both sides agree with an accounting statement that attributes $16,675,690 in profits for "Blurred Lines," which was the biggest hit of 2013. According to testimony, $5,658,214 went to Thicke, $5,153,457 was given to Williams, and $704,774 came to T.I. The record companies took home the rest.

Some of it sounds just like generic modern country radio to me, but I do like some of Zac Brown Band's music. And they're clearly talented, you can feel a difference between guys that create and play music together, rather than the handsome face you can put cowboy boots on and stick in front of a house band to sing about six packs at the river.

But I got to wonder if this Chris Cornell stuff is pissing off some of their fans.

Just watched that. Chris Cornell is starting to look like Howard Stern.

Put Govt Mule- Govt Mule back into my cd player last week. Hasn't left since. I really miss them as just a three piece. They are still good but those first few albums as a three piece or on a different level.

Why am I suddenly listening to a band that only made two albums, the last one 20 years ago? One that I haven't listened to since college? Why did I just dig out a CD I've been toting around since 1995 and load it on to my itunes?

I don't know why. Fear of the inescapable approach of death, I guess. Anyway, here's Belly with "Red".
