Wait are you saying US intervention in an international matter isn't 100% a case of Doing The Right Thing and stuff?

Seriously, though, FIFA is one of the most corrupt bodies in the world, so corrupt the US government can intervene and most of the world goes "yeah, ok, good." If FIFA can either be disbanded or have a top-to-bottom shakeup, it's a good thing.

Nice to see Theo Walcott finish the year strong. Plenty of talent, so much trouble staying on the field. I assume he'll leave Arsenal for more first-team football somewhere else next year, which is a bummer given how much time and patience the club gave him when he was seemingly always absent due to injury, followed by a big vote of confidence from Wenger the last couple weeks.

Well....Yeah. Of course. We have much stricter laws against bribery here than other countries. So the USA and Europe are at a disadvantage in the bidding process. So.....?

I read that 75% of FIFA's revenue comes from the USA and Europe, and if you add in Argentina and Brazil it becomes 90%. So all those countries should be frustrated that they don't get the World Cup while places like Qatar and South Africa do. By supporting FIFA, we are subsidizing 3rd world corruption, basically...at least the way it works right now.

Getting rid of the guy at the top is a good first step but the corruption is institutional. It's kind of like Illinois. You can put the governor in jail, but the problems continue under the new governor.
