After Sai brought it up I thought to check, and Wood did move to California by the time he was in HS, so he got off the island a bit earlier. Not so for Ching though.

True story: a couple years ago i spent an entire weekend hanging out and getting drunk in boston with Brian Ching not knowing he was THE Brian Ching. me and a group of friends were up there for my buddy's wedding and he was dating, now married to, a mutual friend. Never registered to me.

we were all there for the entire week and he arrived later in the week due to the fact he had a soccer camp in hawaii. still didnt register. really good guy. It didnt finally register until my friend posted a pic of them on fb announcing their child with a bunch of houston dynamo shwag. i then text my buddy and was like....is that brian ching of the USMNT???? He was just like "lol yea you didnt know?"

Poaching for sure. Goal was a header. Still making the plays though.

He's tied for the tournament lead in goals and assists, my man. He's getting fouled in dangerous positions (his late career specialty) and he's got a couple of pass before the pass hockey assists.

He's been the best player in the tournament (Brooks is in there too, which is nuts that the US has two guys in that conversation). He's holding the the ball up, he's tracking back, he's drawing fouls, he's distributing, he's linking with the midfield. Basically, don't tread. Seriously, stop. I'm concerned he's gonna hear that you were treading and come find you.







I disliked Bobby Wood for a while because he was one of Jurgen's pet projects, but I'm willing to concede that I was extremely wrong. He is a more athletic Brian McBride. He is a brutal, punishing forward to play against. I am excited to watch him for the next decade.
