[expletive] i am truly bummed by this. like legit bummed.
this was my go to for not only cardinals but ALL things baseball.
I havent read the entire thread but i'd like to echo the sentiment that i truly appreciate what this site brings (brought come 8/12) and wish you'd reconsider, Michael.
I hope we can all find a place to migrate to...perhaps a Cards Diaspora. buh dum ching
So when are you shutting things down?

This news is crushing. Although I've only been registered since 2011 and am a lurker supreme, I've been reading this board daily for years, dating back to the Invincible Cake Eater era or longer. I've had next to no interactions with any of the regular personalities here, but I feel like I've gotten to know you, or at least your personas, pretty well. It's going to be hard to replace the chuckles and quality baseball/Cards talk you all provided me. I owe a heartfelt thank-you to all of you, and especially to Michael for keeping this thing running for so long.
If this decision was made based primarily on financial reasons, I would like to say that I would gladly put forth $5-$10/month to keep this thing going ad infinitum. I'm sure I'm not the only lurker that feels this way. Any thought to getting a Patreon campaign started?

Re: All Good Things Must Come to an End (Aug 12th)
This site turned me gay.
Actually, no, not really. But, like many others, I've been visiting GRB for long enough that some significant changes have occurred in my life over the span of its existence - coming out to my family being the biggest. When I started here I was barely 18, scared of being myself and very unhappy. Now, I'm not too terribly far from 30, I'm proud of who I've become, and the unhappy days are in the distant past.
That has nothing to do with baseball, but I think we can all agree that baseball is only part of what kept us here. Granted, following the Cardinals during this run has been ridiculously awesome for many reasons, but GRB has enough interesting, funny, smart and unique characters to fill a hundred message boards. Instead, we've all had the pleasure of inhabiting just this one.
I hate that I've stopped posting over the last few years, but I never forgot you guys and all of the memories. Thanks to Michael and the team of moderators who made it all possible, and thanks to everybody else for helping to make this place such a great community for discussion, laughter and learning.
It'll be great if we can find another place to congregate, but GRB will always hold a special place in my heart.
