I thought mine was quite a nice mild joke, so apologies if it caused you any offence, I guess?

For what, reporting you for calling my wife a hermaphrodite? Isn't that what the "!" button is for - rude/offensive posts? Being a baby and whining to the mods is the only neutral solution on here, as sticking up for yourself/others can lead to bans if things get too personal and heated. I would prefer to continue posting on this message board, so yes I clicked the report button.Joe Shlabotnik wrote:Thank you, swirls!Swirls wrote:Nah, your comment was fine. Obviously in jest. I had another response typed up, but it would likely just get deleted by the mods for being inappropriate.

Re: 2016 NFL Thread
He's a lot like Andy Reid to me. Gets a lot of credit for being a good offensive coach but definitely sucks at game/time management and makes some really sketchy play calls in big moments. Rodgers is so good that he covers up a lot of mistakes and can make just about any receiver or lineman look good. He doesn't really need a good offensive coach, he needs a defense. And despite all the slobbering of Dom Capers by the announcers the Packers haven't had a top ten defense in 7 years, not coincidentally the year they won the Super Bowl. Since that year coming into this years playoffs they were 3-5 in the postseason with some horrendous losses including one of the worst chokes ever against the Seahawks a few years back. I posted my comment after he went for it on fourth down in his own territory up 10 and gave the Giants a gift wrapped life preserver. That cowboys game would have been another mismanaged disaster if it wasn't for Rodgers.Freed Roger wrote:I havent been watching much NFL lately until today. But this doesnt make sense. Yeah, I've seen McCarthy screw up, but probably because he is in so many big games year after year, while drafting from the bottom.cardsfansince82 wrote:Mike McCarthy is the most accomplished crappy coach in history. Every dollar he's ever made belongs to Aaron Rodgers.
Also, he was big in promoting Rogers over Favre. That could have worked out terribly. But here we are.
Also, injuries- seems like packers able to find ways to deal with better than others.
Rodgers is a better QB than Brady, but Brady will get all the accolades because he was paired up with the best defensive coach and game manager ever. I don't know any Packers fans, but I bet if you asked them about McCarthy you would get a lot of Matheny-esque responses.

If I had to guess, the over/under on the Packers-Falcons is going to be like 65.
*checks*
It's 61. I don't know much about the Falcons except that they scored a lot of points and probably present a pretty bad matchup for the Packers defense. But they also seem to blow winnable playoff games at home. So who knows.

Re: 2016 NFL Thread
Last summer I traveled to Boston for a vendor audit with a couple guys from other nuclear plants around the country. One of the other auditors was from New Jersey, and a diehard Patriots fan - after the audit was over he was going to head to Foxboro to tour the stadium. We talked a lot of football during the audit.
He made a comment that I think was absolutely true and spot on. And it echos a lot of what CF82 said above.
"Tom Brady is an average to good quarterback, but Bill Belichik is a great coach, who makes Brady look way better than he actually is. The team wins games even when Brady is out. That's the difference between the Patriots and the Packers. For Green Bay, Mike McCarthy is an average to good coach, but Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback who makes McCarthy look way better than he actually is. The team can't win games to save their life when Rodgers is out."
The overall opinion on McCarthy, from every Packer fan I've met, is that yeah - he's kinda like Matheny. He's okay, but appears a lot better than he actually is due to the presence of Rodgers.
And Green Bay's defense this year actually wouldn't have been too bad if they hadn't lost their entire secondary for the entire season from injuries. They've been playing with third- and fourth-string cornerbacks all season. They certainly wouldn't have been Top 10, but would have been solid average rather than damn near the bottom.
