Re Schiano and the PSU accusation, it was that he, like McQueary, was a young coach or GA and saw or thought he saw something heinous and went to his bosses, right? Was told he didn’t see what he thought he saw or something like that, pressured to be quiet? If true, though he’s hardly a victim i wouldn’t make him the villain either but maybe a coward, like many of us afraid to confront the institution.

Midway through Missouri’s football season, Barry Odom’s future was in doubt as the Tigers crawled to a 1-5 start. Athletics director Jim Sterk didn’t offer any guarantees that Odom would be back for a third season while the Tigers languished in a five-game losing streak.

Six straight wins later, the school and the coach have started negotiations on a contract extension, a university source confirmed. Odom has three years remaining on his original five-year contract that pays him a guaranteed salary of $2.35 million plus incentives.

Odom makes a base salary of $450,000, plus a guaranteed non-salary compensation amount of $1,900,000, which covers four areas that each pay $475,000: radio appearances, TV appearances, apparel rights and public relations and stewardship appearances.

Odom, 11-13 through two seasons at Missouri, has the Tigers riding the longest current winning streak in the Southeastern Conference. As the Tigers wait to learn what bowl game they’ll play in next month, only three Power 5 teams carry a longer winning streak into the postseason: Wisconsin (12), Northwestern (seven) and Oklahoma (seven).

Sure, I don't know who they beat during this current win streak, but I don't think that schools are kicking down the door to hire Odom away from Mizzou.

Not really sure why they are negotiating an extension now unless the administration really thinks that the team will take off next season and he'd just get more expensive to keep? Even if he does and another school wants him, an extension isn't keeping him around unless they negotiate a HUGE buyout in it.
