This guy needs a promotion to STL to take our minds off of this [expletive] show of a season.

Hard to believe he had 8.1 fWAR one season.

So there are no more waiver deals; but teams will just release players and other teams will pick them up for....salary relief?

Teams can still claim waived players, which would provide salary relief since the claiming team is on the hook (like the Reds claiming Gausman.) Lucroy cleared waivers and was a FA.

Yeah...so the only change is you can't waiver players back and forth between teams. I was trying to think of a reason why it would be worthwhile to a club just to cut ties; not in specifically Lucroy's case but generally. I guess the salary relief is worth it for some clubs.

Derek Dietrich has 273 PA this year with .863 OPS. He has more HBP than singles.
