DOH!

Why has it gotten so difficult to find information anymore? Probably a rant all unto itself.

W/R/T opening schools... There is emerging evidence of non-respiratory impacts on young people who contract corona. I'm not wild about the thought of sending my kids back to school in the fall when there will be a resurgence of cases. They might just get home schooled this year. Which would be sad because I have one that's will be a senior and one that will be a freshman. This was supposed to be a fun year for both of them and they might not get it. :(

Isn’t that what they’ve been saying from the beginning? Don’t touch your face; eyes, nose, and mouth is where it enters.

I don't know why, but Radbird's post made me think of this clip:

Here is an incredible article on the vaccine work being done at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. It's very inspiring and encouraging, though I'm going to temper everyone's excitement by pasting the last segment of the article.
'Another one was coming': Army scientists working on vaccine had long feared emergence of new coronaviruses

For Modjarrad and his colleagues who are also working on therapeutics to treat COVID-19, the pace is unrelenting. Eighteen-hour days and 100-hour weeks are not unusual, he said, adding that no member of the team has had a day off in three months. “It is all-consuming, it is saturating,” he said. But he and his colleagues are keenly aware of the responsibility that has been thrust upon them. “Our whole lives, our training, have been for this moment.”

Even if all goes well, Modjarrad does not expect to have a vaccine widely available until the summer of 2021, meaning there is little prospect of a near-term respite. “But that’s OK,” he said. “We’ll all take a nice long vacation once we get a vaccine.”

Reopening with no day camps in June/July and potentially no school in August will be interesting.
