I find the hardline position a little difficult to believe, i.e. "government should never mandate vaccines". If something like the Black Plague came around and a vaccine did anything to lessen the effects of it, I can't imagine people objecting to that. There are degrees to these things. If 10, 20, 40% of the population could die, you've got to mandate that. Covid has a risk even if you're young and healthy (as far as you know) but a small one. Given that, I find the arguments about government trying to control everyone and pro-vax people simping for big pharma a little ridiculous. This is mostly people just doing what they think is right. Doesn't mean they'e all doing it well necessarily.

I don't think people that got the jabs are simps. Most are trying to do what they think is best. So am I. I think at absolute best, the government response has been negligent. I think there's way more at play connected to Big Pharma infiltrating government, but we don't need to get into all that.

If there's a true black plague type of virus, you probably wouldn't need to mandate it because people would be killing each other to get it. I think with covid, there aren't people dropping in the streets. There's not a single haz mat suit being worn, not a single biohazard waste container in public. You have to test to know if you are sick sometimes. In some areas, you wouldn't know Covid existed if you didn't have media.

As is everything else in America, it is extremely polarizing. You can say the virus is not a big deal because of the reasons I just mentioned. Or you can point to the millions that died and say it's one of the worst things ever. The truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't know what should be done. But I know doing nothing is not the answer, and I know federal mandates are not the answer.

Quick look at the macro-perspective numbers, and it looks like omicron has peaked in the US, certainly. Most states have seen their peak as well. The insane number of new cases should come crashing down over the next couple weeks. All of that is good news.

Bad news is, looking at the UK which has certainly peaked and crashed, their level of new daily cases remains twice as high as what was seen during their delta peak (90K vs 45K). They saw a peak of 180K during omicron. Say 4x more/less.

US saw 800K new cases with omicron vs 170k with delta. So, pretty similar. If you follow the UK and expect similar results, that puts the daily new cases post omicron peak somewhere around 300k-400K daily new cases. Perhaps. S. Africa tells a different story, as they're down well past their delta peak (4K now vs 20K delta peak) but who knows how many tests they're running.

I'm assuming you are referring to the US only, @TGantz , because this has been seen in other countries. (Meaning, haz mat suits and mobile morgues. I would assume in those places, one might also find a biohazard waste container somewhere nearby.)

In this video, john campbell who has a lot of followers and others as well as myself have posted on here, makes a huge mistake. I think John is a retired Dr that dealt with family medicine. So he has a medical background and goes over all sorts of things...

However, in this video he grabs the number of death certificates showing Covid as the only cause listed (about 5-10% of death certificates) and comes to the conclusion that covid death numbers are greatly exxagerated, even after showing the excess deaths is relatively close to the official covid death numbers. Not going to rewatch to get the exact numbers, but I think it was 9K 'covid only', 125K covid deaths and 150K excess deaths.

Here's the issue. Covid can not be the only cause of death. Covid doesn't kill people. It causes things that kill people. It causes, namely, pneumonia which causes Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome which starves the body of oxygen and it dies. Or the heart then quits and it dies. So the death certificate should look like Covid-->Pneumonia-->ARDS with comorbidities listed as well.

Like if you had a gun shot wound. It would look like Gun Shot Wound-->loss of blood-->cardiac arrest. Gun shot wound-->Loss of brain. Forgive me, I don't know the medical terms.

Point being, the death certificates filled out with covid only are almost assuredly incorrectly filled out, filled out by someone that is lazy, or done for fraudulent purposes.

Certainly arguments can be made over how much covid influenced a death. For instance, if you have someone with pneumonia in the hospital on oxygen that then gets covid and dies. Did covid cause that? IDK.

But, to dismiss deaths with pneumonia or ARDS or pulmonary embolism or etc etc etc on the death certificate as not solely or mainly caused by covid is a massive mistake.

I think we've talked about this in here before, but it was startling to see such a massive misunderstanding on his part.

We've agreed that the current state of this thread and the division it's causing isn't sustainable, but we aren't decided on a long-term strategy yet. So the thread is being locked, we're going to discuss our options, and we will announce something next week.
