2023 Hall of Fame Ballot
Given how much the voting bloc hates A-Rod, unless Rolen makes a big move, this might be a shutout year. I do think Beltrán gets in eventually even though he's been at the heart of some cheating of his own.

I think Rolen gets in this year, and maybe an outside chance for Helton and Wagner now that the Bonds/Clemens crowd has fallen off. Agree that Beltran may eventually make it, but it may take a couple years.

This is the first year in a while I can think of where if I had a vote, I don't think I'd max it out with 10. I agree with dmarx's choices and would probably put Kent in as well.

Agree, although if I was a betting man, I'd bet on no-one getting in.MrCrowesGarden wrote: ↑November 21 22, 11:52 amThis is the first year in a while I can think of where if I had a vote, I don't think I'd max it out with 10. I agree with dmarx's choices and would probably put Kent in as well.

Helton is a compiler. Played a lot of years. Had an impressive five year run but that is it. Just a great player. Just misses the mark to make the HOF mean something. fWAR default cutoff should be 60-65 fWAR with exceptions for relievers only and Posey types who retired while on top. I would consider making an exception for Votto too. Just because of how he played. Personal piping hot take opinion there.
Hall of Very Good. Edmonds needs to be in before Helton and Sheffield.

How cool would it be to elect yadi and Beltran the same year?Popeye_Card wrote: ↑November 21 22, 11:45 amI think Rolen gets in this year, and maybe an outside chance for Helton and Wagner now that the Bonds/Clemens crowd has fallen off. In any case, they should put that iconic pic of The K on both their plaques.

I really liked Rolen, but his production fell off after that collision at 1B late in the 2004 season. Even playing in that Great American Bandbox in Cincy, his offensive numbers were off. No doubt that he was a great glove at 3B. If you put in Rolen, Jeff Kent has to get in. Better consistent offensive stats than Rolen. Kent was an OK defensive 2B man. And Billy Wagner should go in.

Probably? Kent currently holds the most career longballs at 2nd. A career 290 average, 1,500+ RBI, and OPSing in the mid-800's. Also had multiple MVP-type years. Multiple Silver Slugger Awards. Multiple All Star nods... To this day I CANNOT STAND THIS DUDE, but he's one of those guys thats an easy choice given where on the field he played. Especially in a year where there arent any shoe-ins sitting at the top of the ballot.MrCrowesGarden wrote: ↑November 21 22, 11:52 amThis is the first year in a while I can think of where if I had a vote, I don't think I'd max it out with 10.
