So I did a very cursory headline scan. Apparently he spills the beans, no 'tea' would be better here, on the Royal Family and it's the fastest selling nonfiction in the UK ever. A true riches to riches story.

I'm interested in someone in his position writing a book. But not the least bit interested in the book. Too bad that Suits woman isn't a Kardashian.

I'm reading Chuck Klosterman's book on the 90s now. It's pretty great. Also pretty funny when he has to write about hip hop, like Biggie v. Tupac, because the chapter is like 3 pages long and it's very clear it's not a subject he knows anything about.

Re: Children of Time. I’ve given up on the last two sci fi books I started and I’ve been interested in finding one. I was happy to see a suggestion.

So I went to Powell’s City of Books (something everyone should do, it’s a special place). But that book is oddly shaped, which is hard for me to get over. Worse though, there was an inch and a half margin on top and bottom, so there was no need for it to be an odd duck. I’ll e-read it later.

Because I wanted a physical book, I took home Name of the Wind. I’m sure some folks here have read it. It’s really highly regarded. Fun so far. I’ve also been interested in fantasy.

OK, so I'm not a big reader. I did read a good deal up through HS and into college, but after that, no matter how amazing the content was/is, I'd fall asleep. It's now a pointless endeavor.

But I finally got on the audiobook bandwagon last year and have been listening to some great stuff.

Octavia Butlter, Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents was fascinating. Highly enjoyed. Kindred was also great, but I liked the Parable books a bit better.

And this book is what I actually came to post about. I'm sure most of you probably read it long ago. But I hadn't....

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

It was my absolute favorite book ever (so far). And the narrator was fantastic. They made the voice of The Creature so haunting/moving. Before Frankenstein, I would have picked The Hobbit or One Hundred Years of Solitude as my favorite book. I read those 30+ years ago.

I'm currently listening to The Haunting of Hill House. It's good, but a bit of a let down after Frankenstein. I might do Dracula next. Or I might go back and listen to The Hobbit again.

Listened to Project Hail Mary about a month ago. It was AMAZE AMAZE AMAZE. It's now roughly tied with Frankenstein for my favorite book all time.

Also listed to Left Hand of Darkness. It was very intriguing. I wouldn't say I *LOVED* it, but it was thought provoking and worth the read/listen.

"The Left Hand Of Darkness" by Ursula K Le Guin
This novel won the Hugo and Nebula awards and is worthy of the hype. An ambassador from Earth (which is part of a galactic Commonwealth by this point) visits Gethen and tries to persuade several of the major nations of that planet to join them. It's really really good, using (as almost all good sci-fi does) alien ideas to illustrate and comment on things going on closer to home (religion, gender, and how deeply those things shape their society). I'd really recommend it.
