the st louis "colorado rockies" cardinals

same farms system, same FO, same on field personnel.

only different is that the cardinals play in a far worse division

The Monforts are completely incompetent with regards to the point where they bragged about extending a 37 year old reliever who had been out of MLB for almost a decade in addition to reading a HoF 3B for scraps while paying $50 mil. for him to go away.

I know the FO was weird and cryptic and “he’s not yadi!!!”, and then he had a big slump, but Contreras has been hitting really well for a good while now. Most teams have two catchers and it’s nice to have one who can hit. I don’t think contreras is a problem, and Herrera can play plenty of games splitting with Contreras for the next few years.

Mo turned down Broglio for Brock. He knew Brock would be a HOF and that kind of production would cost too much.

No way we trade Contreras. Nor should we. At this point, keep Herrera AND Knizner. Let Herrera split with Contreras when he DH's or rests. Knizner is the back up for all. Maybe make him a personal catcher for Mikolas or something to rotate him in. I don't think that roster spot matters all that much considering we've had scrubs on the team taking up that spot for 10+ games without an at bat multiple times this season.

If we can't do 3 catchers, it better be Knizner as odd man out.

Gotta keep Tres Barrera in the organization in case an anthrax epidemic hits the major-league team.
