Cardinals get: OF Jasson Domínguez (Yankees' No. 1 prospect/No. 40 overall), RHP Will Warren (No. 7), RHP Randy Vásquez (No. 12), RHP Clayton Beeter (No. 13)

Do it. The Cardinals are already stacked at 3rd base sans-Arenado with Gorman and Walker. You can righty and lefty platoon and get creative. 6 years of Jasson could equal the value of losing half a handful of Arenado years alone and the hit would be about as manageable as you could get.

The trade value simulator says this trade is off the charts in favor of the Cardinals just based on raw estimated performance returns. So I guess the Yankees would have to be silly to offer it and the Cardinals stupid to reject it. We shouldn't sell so low though, better wait for two potential all-stars to be packaged. Maybe they'd take DeJong instead?

I think I agree with this. I do wonder how many trades they will make by the end of August 1. I know they’re going to have to consolidate some assets, but ideally for me there’s about seven MLB players I think they could move. I hope there is enough time to work through them all.

I think I agree with this. I do wonder how many trades they will make by the end of August 1. I know they’re going to have to consolidate some assets, but ideally for me there’s about seven MLB players I think they could move. I hope there is enough time to work through them all.

I'm hoping they have plenty of straightforward deals on the table for everyone for prospects but they're trying to put together package deals for ML ready talent.

If people are thinking they'll do something like Montgomery straight up for a guy that can slot into the rotation immediately it unfortunately just doesn't make sense on a couple of levels.

Yes, the point is it’s not that difficult to get a league average-ish starter under control.

If the Cardinals have to trade for guys like Oviedo, then they're never going to contend. They should be able to produce guys like that at will. He has like a 4.60 career xFIP.
