The Cardinals now have 3 openings in the pitching staff, who gets called up tomorrow?

Rotation will be Wainwright, Mikolas (Casey Lawrence when Mikolas is suspended), Matz, Hudson, Libertore.

Pen will be Gallegos (unless he's traded), Jojo Reyes, Pallante, VerHagen, and 2 to 3 of the John King,/Leahy/Naile/Suarez. And then some form of Zack Thompson and Casey Lawrence being brought up and down for innings and spot starts.

Going to be a pretty scary bad few months.

These 2 trades were about what I expected. We brought back 3 guys who are now top 10 prospects in our organization. No one special, yet guys who can contribute down the road, or be packaged in the off season for MLB starting pitching.

These 2 trades were about what I expected. We brought back 3 guys who are now top 10 prospects in our organization. No one special, yet guys who can contribute down the road, or be packaged in the off season for MLB starting pitching.

I would hold off on the "no one special" part, there's a few pieces, if they stay with the team and aren't flipped, that can be more than just marginal contributors down the line.

We’re not going to catch the A’s or royals, but maybe can finish worse than the Rockies and Nats to get a top 3 draft pick also

With the trades so far and hopefully more to come, and a top 3 draft pick hopefully, the FO can really set us up for now and the future by just singing the 2 big FA starters out there (at least 1) as the offense is set pretty much depending on what they want to do with the OF.

Draft order is by lottery - bottom 3 worst teams all have the same odds, but all eyes will be on the lottery, tanking doesnt help too much anymore.

This season will help the Cardinals in the big picture. The worst-case scenario was winning 80-85 games, spending assets to improve at the deadline and missing the playoffs. Losing in the first round wasn’t much better. They needed a reset.

Fair enough. They can absolutely outperform projections.

I have no issues with the returns. I really don’t think they’re going to hit the jackpot on any of these lottery tickets, but it’s still good if you win $10 on a $2 play.
