the arcade fire show was awesome, as expected. there really isnt a better venue to see a show than Red Rocks, imo.
Also, i sat next to Juliette Lewis at the show, which was random.

The Soul Coughing show may or may not have been awesome. I got sick instead. God dammit. At least no one tried to convert me to Scientology, I guess.
I'd love to go to Red Rocks. Hell, I've never even been to The Gorge.

Harvila is back with his podcast doing the 2000s. I was afraid he'd go to the 80s--which is mostly terrible or I'm allergic to.
I enjoy his ambles into the subject matter. The first two were The Killers (who--to my note above--get dangerously synthy) and Amy Winehouse.

I hope you gave great thought to the phantom dick, as I did.BottenFieldofDreams wrote: ↑October 9 24, 3:38 pmHarvila is back with his podcast doing the 2000s. I was afraid he'd go to the 80s--which is mostly terrible or I'm allergic to.

Seriously though, Harvilla is awesome. I have now listened to maybe every episode of his Songs that Explain the 90s podcast, and he's just a great storyteller to put the music in context in a warm and humorous manner.
(btw, did you know he grew up in Eureka, MO? I dm'd with him a bit over the years. He's exactly my age, and there's a non-zero chance I would've played little league against him)

Warr-eee-ors come out to play, with Lauryn Hill, Nas, Busta.
I have the vest, by the way. Usually put it over my motorcycle jacket.

I saw Vampire Weekend last night, and they put on a damned great show.
For their encore, they played nothing but crowd requests, with the only rule being they couldn't be Vampire Weekend songs.
The best choices were Bulls on Parade followed by Amarillo by Morning.

I heard they’re doing that. Were there any requests they didn’t know? Not saying I suspect crowd plants, but if it’s truly in the moment, it seems impressive how many covers they have in their locker.
Still waiting on what Juliette Lewis smelled like. I’m guessing weed and a very nice perfume mixture.

They're really talented musicians; most of the songs they said they'd never played before. Ezra struggled with the lyrics on Bulls on Parade, as you'd expect. I think they struggled to find the key on Hotel California. And they said "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" (Frankie Valli) was more complicated than they'd realized.thrill wrote: ↑October 23 24, 7:15 amI heard they’re doing that.
