16 out of 18 winning seasons.

10 playoff appearances.

6 division titles.

2 pennants.

1 championship.

Yes, it was time for a change, but Mo gave us tons of awesome memories. He earned that red jacket.
I tend to agree.

Right now, it feels like a 20-year marriage that was mostly great, especially the first 2/3 of it. Then as time went on, just drifted apart. And now the divorce is final. The ink is still drying on the legal paperwork. The cold nights and lonely feelings are still fresh and raw. But deep down you know over time, you will look back fondly on your time together.

Never forget. The most humorously photogenic GM in professional sports history. Thanks in large part to his fashion choices.

They’ve won the division twice since 2015 while maintaining a competitive advantage over all but one of the Central teams. They’re entering Year 4 of a rebuild that is just getting started. Most of Mozeliak’s achievements are ancient history and he stayed way too long. Any good he did is overshadowed by what could be a very long playoff drought he created.

It really does feel like that offseason after the 2015 season was a turning point. They were scorned by Heyward and Price, and even though they were spared from both, they didn’t get better players while becoming increasingly conservative as an organization that was already conservative to start.

Goldschmidt and Arenado were better hitters than anyone on that 2015 team.

I’d argue the decline was more due to failed attempts at developing pitchers and half-assed measures at acquiring pitchers in free agency.

Hard to believe that was 10 years ago…

Not acquiring Scherzer (despite having multiple opportunities) and striking out on Price stings. Always will tbh.

The Cardinals stink because the game passed by the leadership. Once a model worked for a time they leaned into it at the cost of the effectiveness of the original model, then others innovated on top of the diminishing returns of their outdated model.

Net result was a stale organization that lacked any creativity or ability to pivot. Mo did some good things, but overall he grades poorly. Longevity of being paid millions does not draw my admiration.

He was like the Cardinals on the field, just good enough to not be bad enough to be fired.

It would be fitting for Shildt to go a long way in the playoffs while Mo is on his way to "Mo, who?"

I'd root for the Padres to win it all just to stick it to Mo and the DimWitts.
I don't think they'll get past the Cubs, but I'd love it if they did.

Was Shildt perfect? No, but he'll be managing long after Mo and Marmol are gone. And he did win MOY in 2019, so there's that.
