I can't wait til the Winter Warmup when Dewitt III tells us they had to cut payroll because us fans were naughty and didn't show up in sufficient numbers to hit their profit target.
2026 tickets will also include a “fee for not paying a fee” fee.

And a $50 concession deposit refundable only if you spend $75 at the concession stands.

I don't accept a terrible offseason. I don't give a [expletive] what Bloom is building. All it comes down to is DeWitts saving money. The Cards missed playoffs by a few games. If you replace Fedde's production with a solid FA SP, trade Arenado for Castellanos, and sign Bader, you'd be in playoffs.

Trade some of our talented catchers with Donovan to get an ace and they're in the world series.

I understand that things will be worse and they'll only sign a 40 year old reliever coming off TJ, but I don't accept it

I don't think the Cardinals are nearly this close to being better than the Dodgers on paper. Sure, they could make the World Series, but by no means would they be the favorites.

But agreed that we shouldn't just accept a mediocre offseason while the Cardinals shuffle some deck chairs around on their rebuilding ship. Ownership either needs to commit to being a title contender again, or they'll continue to see the malaise among the fanbase.

The St. Louis Cardinals finalized two external front-office hires, multiple league sources told The Athletic on Friday.

The Cardinals hired Joe Douglas to oversee the professional scouting department and Jacob Buffa as international scouting director, the first two significant hires under new president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom.

Douglas spent eight seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and most recently served as the head of player analysis. While Douglas will help facilitate the Cardinals’ player acquisition process overall, his main responsibilities will involve working with the pro scouting staff under assistant general manager and scouting director Randy Flores. The Cardinals retained all seven of their pro scouts, signing each to a one-year deal near the end of the season.

Buffa, a Missouri State University graduate who co-founded a baseball performance facility in St. Louis, spent seven seasons in the Houston Astros organization. According to the Astros’ media guide, Buffa was responsible for building the organization’s first performance science department and, in his recent role, oversaw biomechanics, sports sciences and player development.

Buffa seems like a great hire. We could use that advanced stuff he implemented with the Astros.

On the other hand, Joe Douglas..... a head of player analysis, of the freakin Pirates?!?...of all teams?!!?...I can't feel excited over that one. Considering lack of success of anyone that made their MLB roster (other than Skenes) over the past few years, their "analysis" has not seem to be done well.

I hear what you're saying about the Pirates, but their pitching isn't bad. Skenes, Jones and Chandler would all be welcome in the Cards rotation.

3 top level arms acquired through their high draft positions. That didn't require genius analysis.

Before I went and re-read this thread I thought it was going to be that they hired Dan Buffa, the KSDK meathead which would be hilarious and depressing and not entirely implausible.
