There’s no reason Donovan can’t be on the next Cardinals playoff team because there’s no reason that has to be far away other than ownership refuses to spend. The Cardinals are about to have no guaranteed contracts beyond 2026 and people act like that’s normal. It’s a scam.
They're preparing for a work stoppage. It's sad.
No one else with a historically top 15 payroll is behaving this way.

The Cardinals are screwing their fan base because they’re angry their TV money dipped. I would like someone in the media to frame it this way. A rebuilding team can extend Masyn Winn and Donovan.

Not many on here call them out for being cheap more than I do. I'm merely calling it like it is. They're not going to run the club like a large (or even medium) sized market any longer.

If only this small-market team had any sort of history of being in the top 3 of attendance for decades.

Ryan Divish, the Mariners beat writer for the Seattle Times, says the Mariners are not interested in dealing any players from their major league roster but would be willing to give up their top pitching prospect, Jurrangelo Cijntje, in a package for Brendan Donovan.

How have Donovan and Romero NOT been dealt to the Mariners yet? It's too good of a fit. I can't imagine Bloom is holding out for Woo. Get it done Walt!

I still think Donovan should get an extension instead. But I guess I'll take a top 100 prospect or two if ownership really sucks that much.

For God's sake, do something. I'm sick of checking mlbtraderumors to see if Donovan has been dealt. I've already lost him in my mind. Once Contreras was dealt, reality really set in. I just want to move on from Donovan, Romero, and Arenado so we can see what other moves can be done. Not loving the current purgatory we are in.

I'd rather have Sloan.

Maybe I'm being overly hopeful, but this is not the impression I get. My read is that they don't think they've had the pieces to make big trades and/or supplement them. And also that they've done a bad job of evaluating talent generally. Not that they secretly plan to be Steve Cohen, but my assumption is they'd get back to being around 10-12th in payroll if the system seems to be cranking out those pieces and supplements within the next couple of years.

Going mostly off of statements like Blooms saying they want to turn this around quickly, which can't really be done by selling off and building off the farm alone. Also have my doubts that Bloom would have taken the job if he was told spending was intended to remain in the bottom third.

Also, you don’t get credit for eating $20 million of Gray’s backloaded contract. You’re just paying him what you should’ve paid him in 2024.

You're right.

I'm extremely bummed at the state of the organization and want them to make whatever moves they're going to make so they don't miss out on opportunities.
