So a Cardinal who is an everyday player is going to Seattle. I can’t afford season tickets and I don’t think I would want to attend all the home games just for Donovan, but I might have to attend the home opener (if I can get a ticket for a reasonable price) just to welcome Donnie to Seattle.
Lucky you! He should fit really well on that team.

What I've learned from this offseason is there is a percentage of very online Cardinals fans who do not give a [expletive] if the team has players worth watching this season.
If you hope to contend this year, I get the sentiment.

Cjinte is involved per the twitter and Joel Sherman.
Is there that much difference between a top 50 and 100 prospect?

Donovan is about to be 29 and under control for 2 more years. Realistically, based on aging curves, that will likely be the end or close to his prime, so not sure what the fuss is between that return.
Depends on the players and the methodology of the list. Cjinte is a top-100 guy. So that fits my expectations. Now we see what else is involved.

I do admit I wanted an actual guy in the deal (to my eyes, which are critical). But if it's Cjinte and someone else actually good as well, then I'm fine. If it's just Cjinte, well, that's just caving on the part of the Cardinals.

If Cijntje is the best player, this is a failure.

Tai Peete looks to be involved. He's athletic, but can't hit. Swing and miss isn't a problem, it's an anchor.

Probably a bench OF'er projection at this point. Really athletic.

At that point, why not shoot for zero wins and picking in the top three?

And to address the end of your passage, it’s because Donovan is fun to watch.

Winn, and who? Currently.
I don't think aiming for top three is too far off from what they're trying to do. I think this team will struggle to get 70 wins barring the rotation overperforming and the offense suddenly having guys hit consistently.

I view this year as more of a time evaluate any guys who have a pulse that can pitch, hit, and field with a 70 win expectation. Any unexpected positive developments are a nice benefit and something to keep in mind when building towards 2028 or 2029 (when I think the front office will be willing to actually try to win again).

Anyone who isn't under long term control, over the age of 25 or 26 (using this as an arbitrary age), and above average should be traded for something as they aren't going to help this team win a World Series in the near future.

I think it will likely be Cjinte + some player who is already on Mariner's roster or about to be. But Top 50/100 is splitting hairs here.

Ian Seymour from the Rays. Good prospect, LHP.

A 50, 45+ already in the majors and a 45+ risky type.

Pretty close to what I said they'd get (two 50's, and a 40).
