Tony Clark plans to resign as executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan and Don Van Natta Jr.
Clark's resignation comes in the wake of the Eastern District of New York's investigation into alleged financial improprieties at the union.
The move was made ahead of an expected start of collective bargaining in April for an agreement to replace the five-year labor contract that expires Dec. 1.

Well that's not great timing for the players, right there.

Was listening to 101 recently and they mentioned that Jack Flaherty tried to stage a coup on Clark a couple years ago. I didn’t remember hearing about that at all.

It's the perfect storm which will blow in a lot of very bad financial changes to baseball (bad if you're anyone other than the owners). Or maybe the PA will get a better leadership and everything will be fine. Who knows.

Wait, is that sort of thing frowned upon here? I didn't know!

What in the world?…
Major League Baseball Players Association executive director Tony Clark resigned Tuesday after an internal investigation revealed an inappropriate relationship with his sister-in-law, who the union hired in 2023, sources told ESPN.

Sorry to tell him, but there will be no baseball after the season till a cap is agreed on and in place
The owners are billionaires and didn’t get their money from this; they get it from other sources and used those to buy these teams.
The owners don’t need a 2027 season (and beyond); the players do

The sister-in-law element, especially one that's an employee, is pretty heinous morally. That being said, this is propaganda from owners to weaken the PA before negotiations. They held on to this info until the most useful time. He was good for the players so he had to be dealt with.
