Noot is hurt and the backup plan is apparently putting Fermin in LF. My guess is they like Urias better defensively and don’t care if they hit because Busch suppresses offense.

It’s not my money and it’s not much a difference…but the cards [expletive] about revenue, but every year sign someone waaaay more than they could’ve gotten them for

Spring training has already started; no one was going to sign him for anything over the minimum and prob not even a ML contract.

It would be quite silly to have Wetherholt up to start the season and give up his seventh year of control in a year they aren't even trying to compete.
This would be a sensible thing to write if you're the owner of the team, but is kind of awful if you're a fan. The Cardinals could still sign him at the end of his 6th or 7th year, and all it would cost them is money.

The Cards have made a trade:
Cardinals, Nationals Swap George Soriano, Andre Granillo

Judging by the sample size of the last 2 days, we won the trade!

Ignoring service time and just on stuff, I think you're right.

Yankees took RHP Cade Winquest from the Cards in the Rule 5.

Cardinal Minor Leaguers RHP Sean Harney, 1B Matt Lloyd and RHP Zane Mills selected in the MILB portion of today’s Rule 5 Draft.
