Re: Blues Off-season and 2025-26 Season
Lots of smoke this time of year, but I just can’t see us trading Thomas or Kyrou unless it’s a ridiculous offer. Do we really see another Thomas in the system currently? Anyone with Kyrou’s ability in the system? (Dude scored at a 40 goal pace over the last 4 years and is sharing the team lead in goals in a drastically bad offensive year for him).
I still think its Faulk, one of Suter/Schenn (probably a cap dump coming back for both) and probably a spare bottom 6 type of vet for a late round pick or nothing prospect just to create more ice time for the kids.
Get what you can for the tradeable vets, hope Fowler gets confused and thinks its 2024-25, assume the goaltending will get back to solid, and run it back next year and see if this year was a fluke or a trend.

There is no way they are trading Thomas, and it seems a bit silly to keep seeing his name thrown out there in speculation. Kyrou, I could see.
I think you try to move Faulk, Binner, and Schenn in that approximate order. Each should have a market, though you may have to eat some salary back to get a better pick or prospect.
We need a studd defenseman or two. I don't think there's any way this team is more than a fringe playoff contender until that is shored up.

Blues reportedly seeking the equivalent of four first rounders (picks or high level prospects / young NHL’ers) for Thomas. Sounds like a deal got close with Buffalo but didn’t quite get there.
I think that’s the right approach. You trade Thomas, and you are back to seeking a 1C again. You better get multiple first rounders to refill the cupboards.

their asking price (and rightfully so), would mean that nearly everyone in the league is available
read the BUF wasn't close/just talking, cause they were trying to supplement diff pieces instead of meeting the required price, and army basically was like nope; that's the price
we're rebuilding, so he's the type of young star under a good contract we should be trying to acquire and not deal...but if someone wants to get stupid, and meet that price? hell yeah

I agree. The only reasons to move Thomas would be 1) the team needs to be blown up, and the Blues believe they won't be competitive for years, or 2) another GM is willing to throw in insane amounts of talent in a trade, plus extra body parts.

Re: Blues Off-season and 2025-26 Season
latest rumor is parayko going to BUF for Radim Mrtka and a 1st
if that's real, I'm very very happy
love me some Colton, but he's just been off for a bit and he's on the wrong side of 30. and Mrtka is a parayko clone at 6'6" and RH
Our D will be getting VERY young though with Mrtka, Jiricek, Broberg, Lindstein and Mailloux here or coming in shortly
(says it's a done deal if he waives his NTC...which I mean it is BUF. historically I could see him rejecting it, but they're finally good and is close to Canada?)

Re: Blues Off-season and 2025-26 Season
Yeah just saw the parayko (pending) deal. Mixed feeling because I love colt 55 and think he would be an excellent bridge to the next core.
On the other hand, that’s a fantastic return. We would need to acquire a RD from someone (capdump?) to make sure we continue to let mailloux take his time (he seems to be making very solid strides)
Or maybe Faulk is the one we keep. Who knows. If we are trading colt, then I think we really are kicking the can 3-4 years down the road minimum and I could now see Thomas and kyrou dealt. At that point sell Faulk and take a couple cap dumps with a pick attached from a contender seeking space for a trade.

I love Parayko and the presence he has been with the team, but that is last year’s 9th overall pick plus a first rounder? Great deal.

Re: Blues Off-season and 2025-26 Season
With the deadline tomorrow, I assume they have a deadline for colt sometime today? Noon? (Total speculation, I know nothing) gives him a night to sleep on it and talk to his family and the team.
I have no clue what the delay implies.
No disrespect to Parayko either way. It’s a big decision. I’d be happy with the return (and root for Buffalo this year) if he waives, and hope he gets to 1000 games as a blue if he stays.
