So I recently noticed there was a placeholder channel for the Cardinals telecast on my Spectrum list.

I have the super-cheap Xumo-based 15 channel + local package. I pick 15 add-on channels (like Fanduel, ESPN, Comedy Central, etc.). So I wanted to try to swap out a channel I don't use much for the new Cards channel.

I logged into the Spectrum website, but couldn't find the channel selection area. I think they removed it. So I pop open chat, and it keeps bouncing me around highly UNhelpful FAQ style Q&A.

Pro tip: If you get stuck in this FAQ loop from hell in a chat window, just tell the chatbot that it is the worst AI you have ever encountered. You get a human REAL QUICK.

Anyway, so the human finally informs me that things should be finalized tomorrow and it should just automatically switch for me.

I thought this might help some of you fellow Spectrum customers.
Hope Direct TV has the same thing.

Just read this on STL Today:
On Wednesday, about 24 hours before the Cardinals open their season at home against Tampa Bay, Spectrum (Charter) cable said it will carry the games on Channel 233. That also includes the Columbia, Jefferson City, Springfield, Hannibal and Cape Girardeau areas in Missouri as well as Paducah, Kentucky, and Quincy in Illinois. In Evansville, Indiana, games will be on Channel 535 and in some other areas on Channel 362.

Also, satellite's DirecTV said it has reached an agreement and will put the telecasts on Channel 672 (streaming and satellite), with U-Verse customers getting them on Channel 1746, in the team’s geographical broadcast territory.

I'll just put my annual MLB Xbox app complaint here. Every year they strip that thing down further. The last few years it had a nice milestones feature where you could go directly to the game highlights in each inning. Also used to have a feature to watch multiple games at once. Now both of those are gone and it's just the normal scrubber bar and the scoreboard to skip the start of each half inning.

Anyone streaming Cardinals.tv? Bought it, mostly for my son who is away at college. He just logged in under my account, it won't let him watch the game, and trying to watch it takes him to a subscription screen for SNY...he's in Columbia, MO. The rest of our mlb.tv account works fine. Never had an issue with FanDuel or Bally's.

Did MLB put some restriction on here so that you have to be in the same zip code as...I don't know, the billing address? I don't think my zip is tied to my MLB.com account otherwise.

I'll check, but not that I'm aware of, pretty sure its the MLB app on a SmartTV, so not that simple. All the other guys in his house are local, not sure why they'd use a NY area zip if they were using a VPN. Tried on his phone's MLB app as well with no dice. Going to give it another go today.

So far, the new broadcast feels pretty much unchanged from a production standpoint.

Have to say, I like not having gambling shoved down my throat all the time.

But the Rally House jingle is now permanently stuck in my head. Are they the only company that bought a commercial spot??? LOL

So how is this working with ESPN now? Games are not showing up on my Hulu+ Live TV / ESPN+, as the NHL games do. Is it only on some new ESPN Unlimited thing?

Essentially if you have the ESPN app, MLB tv is available through it. If you have MLB TV it just works the way it always did. Since I renewed my MLBTV I got signed up for a trial of ESPN Unlimited which I have not used at all. I need to go cancel that. But if you are an existing ESPN unlimited user you can get mlbtv at a discounted rate apparently. I am sure at some point you will have to subscribe to ESPN to get MLBTV or some nonsense.
