How long would you give Walker as a starter?

This is actually the best he’s looked. Including two years ago. Not totally a believer yet but definitely keep him in cleanup over Winn right now. Winn was fine when there weren’t apparent better options, but now it’s clearly the better option.

My brother and I were texting about Walker this morning. He was saying how much fun it is to watch him rake like this (which I totally agree, of course). I replied that I would be holding my breath for him all year.

It’s obviously a hold your breath type thing, but he has a lot of underlying stats that stabilize quickly that look really good.

It's also worth noting how much more confident he looks defensively. Small sample size and all. His routes look better to the naked eye, and the accuracy of his arm has followed.

Launch angle, optimal contact, sweet spot, etc. all positive.

Contact % finally crested 70% (which is kind of where most players have to be if they're not Judge'ian power).

Even base running and fielding metrics think he's improved.

You should always be skeptical of players over short samples, agreed. Hopefully curious as well, but skeptical.

Yeah, I think the one yesterday even surprised him. He was so “late” on that swing, kinda flicked it out there, and boom gone.
