Cardinals - Padres history tidbits

The Cardinals and Padres faced off in the Paradise Series in April, 1997. These were the first regular-season major league games played in the state of Hawaii; a twi-night doubleheader on April 19 and the final game of the 3 game set on April 20; all played at Aloha Stadium. The Cards won the two games of the doubleheader but dropped game 3 to the Padres. The Padres were the home team for the series and were testing out the viability of future exhibition games in the Aloha state.

Ozzie Smith, Jack Clark, Jim Edmonds, and Andy Benes are notable players that played for both franchises.

The Padres finished above .500 for the first time in the year 1978 with manager Roger Craig, who had pitched for the Cardinals during his playing career.

The Cardinals are 10-3 in lifetime playoff matchups against the Padres; but San Diego won the most recent matchup which was the wild card series in 2020.

Bullpen is nearly a standard deviation better than #2. It's incredible.

I am unsure of the difference between a Urias and a Prieto; but I like the non-Pages lineup nights.
