It's a little disappointing to me. He's a 5-9, 180 pound kid who didn't run well at the Combine, or demonstrate power in games.

He's a twitchy kid, who gets the most of his frame, but his bat speed is honestly not exemplary.

Have to imagine we wanted Grindlinger and got sniped. Condon is typically picked in the 30's or comp round.

Others are higher on him than I am, but I don't see impact talent honestly. I see a kid who plays all-out and gets the most of his fairly limited tools. He does make a nice amount of contact, even though it's a funky swing.

Doesn’t sound promising based on that fangraphs report :/

HS so don’t think it’s a money saving pick?
It's pretty disappointing, yes.

Are the PCA-Condon comps from the MLB Network guys actually insane? Asking a Cubs fan, don’t want the Cards to have their own Pete.

I mean, PCA's defense was just so, so special from the jump, he's kind of a 1-of-1 in that sense. I can't remember putting a def 7 or 8 on a HS outfielder's defense.

Card's fan here, what's your thoughts on the Condon pick?

We were having a talk about whether he's the least toolsy guy taken so far...

Good little athlete, contact oriented, well-rounded, not big loud tools tho

Don’t know anything. But it seems his intangibles are off the charts. Those guys tend to reach their ceiling.

I hate that MIA took Jacob Lombard right after us, and would MUCH rather have had us take him…

I am not going to get too high or low on any of the picks but it is all a lottery. I just hope we get lucky with a few of them.

I think we are going to hear that he has a relatively high floor for a high school hitter and makes the most out of his tools. The Cards have a lot of early picks, really curious how the whole class looks in terms of getting a couple of higher upside guys.

Better than that, of course, at least tools maximize wide, but a faster Church, with a much better arm isn't crazy.

A major leaguer who is above replacement is a nice player, so a Nathan Church is a good player, but I'm just not really excited. It's also a really meh draft from a star perspective so you have to pick your flavor.

My guess is the charisma and character were intoxicating. He's legitimately a great kid, teammate, and clubhouse influence. I'd imagine he's a million of so under slot if I had to guess.
