OK one more, from another concert I attended. I prefer the live versions of these Humberstone songs because with a full band they sound more like rock songs. The studio versions are intricate pop songs.

I guess you guys can figure out what I'll be doing during the strike next summer

It was an amazing night of music. It was a great three nights of music.

If you aren't going to Fleet Foxes at the Pageant, Black Francis is playing at the Old Rock House that same night.

I'm seeing Fleet Foxes, but would rather catch Black Francis.

Don't count on seeing R.E.M. again... well, except for that one time, and that other time...

Peter Buck on an R.E.M. reunion: ‘It’s just not going to happen’

R.E.M. called it quits in 2011, and while some fans may be holding out hope for a full band reunion, guitarist Peter Buck tells Mojo they really shouldn't.

"When we decided it was the end, I felt fine with it. That was the story – it had a beginning and an end," he says. "I was happy with the whole arc, and we were all young enough to go off and do other things, and we all have been."

"And unlike every other band in the world other than The Smiths, we're not going to be doing the famous album reunion tour or any of that crap," he adds. "It's just not going to happen. It's great that we did all that stuff when we did it, and I'm really proud of the performances. I don't want to cheapen it by going out there just for ego and money. I don't need the money, and my ego? Well, I've had enough applause to last 10 lifetimes."

R.E.M. announced their split in September 2011. All four members — Buck, Michael Stipe, Mike Mills and Bill Berry — reunited to perform at the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2024. They also reunited in February 2025 for a performance of "Pretty Persuasion" at Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy's show in Athens, Georgia.

Phil Collins on the possibility of new music: ‘I’ve got some things that are finished'

Phil Collins hasn't put out a new album since 2010's Going Back, but that doesn't mean there won't be new music in the future.

During an appearance on the Sodajerker on Songwriting podcast, Collins sounds hopeful about making music again. "Oh I've got some things that are finished. Well, a couple of things that are finished," he said. "I've got a lot of ideas. I know what they are, but I haven't approached them since the health issues. But I've got a studio downstairs in my basement. I'm now not taking the long way around to avoid going in it," he adds.

Collins has been dealing with health issues since 2007, including neck problems and nerve issues that left him unable to play the drums.
