Re: Minor League News 2026
R Rodrigues is our new "machine"...the dude is just unreal with the bat.
he's almost 5 years younger than the average in AA, and cruising with a 310/388/532 for a 926 OPS. 14 HR and 19 2b in AA since he was promoted the middle of May.
he had 2 more ABs after that tweet, so it's 39 consecutive ABs without a SO
I'd say the dude has AA solved
and again...he's 5 years younger than average in AA. He's only 19 and doesn't turn 20 till next year in January

Doyle and Rodriguez prob are ready in 2027, if only there'd be a season.

I wonder if they'll promote anyone to AAA at this point. As of tomorrow, there's 1 month left of the season there.

AA is headed for the playoffs and AAA is not, so prob want to keep them all there as they seem to like to give them playoff experienceghostrunner wrote: ↑August 20 26, 8:31 pmI wonder if they'll promote anyone to AAA at this point. As of tomorrow, there's 1 month left of the season there.

So Memphis lost yesterday after being up 4-3 going into the 9th. Noah Mendlinger, an OF, was brought in to pitch in the 9th and they lost 8-4
Interesting question being asked over on Bluesky, and I'm editing out some of the rejoinders which basically say AAA game, late season, doesn't matter, etc...:

What is Bloom doing with the pitching here? How does one MLB DH reverberate down to this? Yes Mason Molina didn’t give you many innings but still this is nuts
This is one response:But that lack of depth, such as we saw in Cincy and now Memphis, concerns me in the same way we saw a lack of depth rear its head in the latter Mo years.
And reply from him:I think they have an assessment of pitcher health that dictates what they're doing and that has implications on MLB roster changes as well. Could be one or both. At the end of the day, losing a AAA game doesn't matter to STL
That’s fine but none of this is news, it was in the forecast and that Bloom just sat on his hands is disconcerting
They may as well forfeit after the 8th if this is the solution. It’s embarrassing even if it’s inconsequential
....
It’s not the W/L that’s problematic
If the AAA team is running short and the bullpen usage in Cincy was weird despite the DH being on the calendar for a while, where are innings going to come from if someone gets hurt?
Not maintaining depth the same way Mo failed to is a red flag
I have been saying for years the engine on the Memphis shuttle should rarely, if ever, go cold
Now I’d add the waiver wire shuttle to that
Yankees just got Eli Morgan, Tyler Kinley is in DFA limbo and would help the major league pen
Mo era “get by with…” mantra remains…

Raniel makes Brett Wallace look svelte.
He’s a 1B/DH all the way.
