I kind of like spring birds.

Ozarks is what the region is called. Ozark is a town right next to Springfield, calling it Ozark would be confusing the region to the town. I get it, but double plural is rough.

Why not Ozark Mountain Springbirds? They could still say Ozarks as an "unofficial" shorthand.

Springbirds seems too generic too me, but I assume this about avoiding specifics to avoid paying royalties to somebody.

I'm assuming licensing and trademark fees since the Springfield team was no longer owned by the major-league Cardinals.

But I also don't see why the bird image is still a cardinal. It was a great opportunity for a complete rebranding, and the team did the most half-assed job possible.
